Why Me?

Good question: Why me, when there are many other people you could sell to, introduce your lead to, or do a JV with?

First my background:

Starting as a trainee with Martin & Pole John D. Wood, a firm of Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents in Reading, in the 70′s I was quickly promoted to assistant manager at their fastest growing office in Earley, Nr Reading, then to rapidly turn around their loss making office in Mortimer.

Then, the new industry of Relocation Management beckoned. However, fed up with a motorway commute, the past independence of running an agency branch beckoned once more, and I returned to agency, with Barnes & Co, in Newbury.

Within a few years I returned to relocation once more, this time to help set up Berkshire based relocation management company, ARC Relocation, joining as its first employee, helping to grow it and becoming operations director then sales and marketing director in the process, before being headhunted to join what is now Cartus Mobility, the world’s leading Relocation Management firm, in 1992.

Between then and now, the intervening years have seen me join Hambro Countrwide Relocation, running their case handling, valuations and supply network for 2,500 moves a year. At all three relocation firms (ARC/Cartus/HCR) I project and account managed major accounts, specifically those that involved major relocations of employees and their houses from one area to another – the smallest about 20 people, the largest well over 1,000 over 3 years.

I ran my own Homesearch, Relocation Management and Property Data business for 6 years before joining London based property data company Hometrack, running their national estate agency sales team, and later joining their relocation arm. Immediately prior to, and when there, I became involved in Automated Valuation Model development and continued my interest in the use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for the illustration and plotting of valuation and area data.

I am the author of “Home Finding As A Business”, the definitive guide to setting up and running a home search business. I have consulted with relocation firms and major employers on sales, policy and move management, home search businesses, developers, on the creation of an online based agency, product development in GIS and the creation of asset management services for lenders.

Along with my love of golf (I was asked to turn Pro at 17!) and enjoyment of helping clients achieve their property and family goals – I run www.golfcourseproperties.co.uk which amalgamates property sales, assisted sales, “buying in” and development opportunities for Golf Course Properties.

I work very closely with a Thames Valley development firm, and can bring to the party the full capability of a “turn key” development solution from concept, to build, finance to sale for any development potential land/property leads you may have.
